Advertising in space: in 2020 the first experiments

Start Rocket startup has designed displays that, from space, will project advertisements.

The world of advertising may no longer be the same thanks to an innovative startup, the Start Rocket. The founders of the young Russian company thought of projecting advertising images where nobody had ever imagined: in space. By 2020, young entrepreneurs are planning to launch small satellites in orbit to show advertising slogans, as we usually observe on street signs. These are orbital displays that will fly over our heads at a height between four hundred and five hundred meters and remain visible for about six minutes at a time.

In short, the project appears feasible and within the reach of current technologies, even if there are difficulties and uncertainties. One of the first obstacles to be overcome will be public opinion, which still appears contrary to a type of advertising considered excessively invasive. There are also difficulties related to air traffic, in addition to the long process of permits to be obtained from public authorities. Despite everything, however, Vlad Sitnikov and Alexey Skorupsky, creator and member of Start Rocket, remain confident declaring as “commoditization of space” is a process, by now, inevitable. After all, they add, all the new advertising channels were greeted initially with suspicion.
